Started this last night and finished this morning:
Well good night from Campiello. Going to bed early to get a good start tomorrow. Going to try to tape up the plantar fasciitis, it is really the only thing bothering me at this point. Except for a small blister on my hand from my hiking poles. I mean the walks not fun per se it’s hard, but it really get a sense of accomplishment and everybody says when you get to Santiago it’s all worth it.
I do have to say it is beautiful, beautiful country with amazing old structures and wonderful farms. The hydrangeas are unworldly they are so big and so plentiful and so many colors.
So tonight met up with Ruben again. He is an older gentleman who has walked this route and many others. He started the coastal route, the Camino Norte in May and stopped for a while to return to Mexico. He kept his credential half full of stamps and is now finishing it. That’s something no one really talks about, about only doing parts of the Caminos months apart, but evidently that’s a thing, because many Spanish have asked me, like it couldn’t be presumed, if I was going to Santiago. I guess if you just keep your credential and keep getting stamps it doesn’t matter.
So some songs I left on the playlist but need to add: Everyday is a winding Road and Climb Every Mountain.
Other thoughts:
Bed bugs: there’s been a few nights when I could have cared less if I’d had bed bugs–sure maybe an infestation, but one or two–I think I was so tired some nights and so happy to see a bed that I was willing to take my chances.
You can get distracted with side trips and picnics and just the interestingness of the places around and you can forget the goal: Santiago. It really does became this mental driving thing. Get to Santiago.
You can do it, T!! You’re an inspiration to many of us. ROCK ON!!

It’s so lovely to hear what you see, and hear, and feel as you’re journeying along the Camino 🙂
Have faith that you will arrive safely in Santiago (I certainly do) and enjoy the distractions when they appear…God has been known to pop up in the most unexpected places (especially spots we never thought we’d be in), yes?
Hugs and love!
