Shout Out from Lugo

So I’ve been quite lazy this afternoon. Crawled into my hotel room and I haven’t moved. In fact, although it will mean a longer day later, I have decided to stay an extra day in Lugo.

And while I’m being lazy, should also be thankful. First, but not foremost, thanks to Bobby the German Shephard and his owner. I met them today south of Bascuas where the concrete marker for the Camino had been completely destroyed and several big arrows had been painted on a sign to lead one to the right. This look a little odd to me. Someone had gone to the trouble of wiping out the traditional marker only to add these other extremely obvious ones. Bobby and his owner just happened to be walking by and I asked which way I should go. Bobby’s owner said I could go either way. I asked which was shorter; he said to the left. I asked then why the arrows to the right. He said they led to a bar in the town of Bascuas in case you wanted a drink or something. I thanked the guy for the assistance, we exchanged pleasantries. He had lived in Boston! Anyway, a shout out to this guy helping me at the right place at the right time.

Also, thanks to ALL of you who have sent me encouraging notes. Even if you sent only one–sometimes they came at just the right time to be inspirational!
